🧾 ReClaim My EIN (Business Tax ID)

👉 Step 5️⃣ - Get Your Business Tax ID

Your Employer Identification Number (EIN) is your business’s social security number. It allows you to open a business bank account, apply for credit, and file taxes properly.

✅ What You'll Learn

  • What an EIN is and why it matters
  • How to get your EIN for free from the IRS
  • What to do after receiving your EIN

🛠️ Step-by-Step EIN Application

1️⃣ Go to the official IRS EIN portal

👉 Click here for the IRS EIN portal

2️⃣ Apply online

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7am–10pm EST
  • Use your SSN and LLC name
  • Choose “Sole Proprietor” or “LLC” based on your filing
  • Select “Started a new business” as reason

3️⃣ Download your EIN confirmation letter (CP 575)

  • This is your official proof of business identity — keep it saved! You’ll only receive it once directly from the IRS, and replacements can be time-consuming to request.

📌 Tips

  • You only need one EIN per business
  • Never pay for an EIN — it’s 100% free on the IRS site
  • If you make a mistake, you can reapply (but only one EIN per day per person)

🧾 After You Get It

  • Open a business bank account
  • Add EIN to your business records
  • Use it on applications, contracts, and tax forms

You're now officially in business. 💼
